Amazon Adventure
By Torben
The famous John Hunt, who is he? Is he a Super Hero, a sports player, a normal person? No he’s none of those, he is a famous animal collector along with his sons.
The Hunt family is an animal family not a normal animal family but a wild animal family they have snakes, bears, bats ,lions and more. Roger, Hal and John Hunt are off on an adventure to collect more animals. They are trying to do something that know one has achieved ,they are going down the Amazon River. On most maps of the Amazon River there is a bold line that means that no one has discovered all of it or have come out alive. John Hunt, Roger and Hal’s father is getting to old to do the work, it is really dangerous but Roger (12) Hal (nearly 18) can do it. Hal is about the same size as most adults, and is the same size as his dad.
My favorite part is when they come into Tiger Country and they wait at a cave for ages for a tiger to come out, so Hal decides that he will go in with a
torch and a gun to have a look, when he goes in, he can see nothing but to big eyes glaring at him, he wonders what it is when he put his torch just below the eyes he can see nothing, then he can feel something scraping on his foot it gets more and more powerful then he gets pushed out of the cave into the net. All the men start laughing and so does Roger. Later on Hal tells Banco that it was a black Jaguar, Banco comes up with an idea to catch the Jaguar. Will the idea work?
This is a really good book it really feels like you are traveling down the Amazon (Did I mention that they came out alive) .This story is an really good story for kids aged 9-13.
Great introduction, Torben! You drew me into your review. You have certainly brought out the sense of adventure in this book - well done. Make sure you have an adult do a final proof prior to publishing - it'll catch the little errors.
ReplyDeleteHi Torben it's Jack here. I would like to read the book but you spoilt it by saying they got out alive!
